The Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg Museum is situated inside the castle walls, which dates back to the fifth and sixth centuries A.D. The museum itself was inaugurated in 1981. Within the walls of the castle is also Dollma Tekke. Near the castle’s entrance is a traditional market, which dates back to the period of Skanderbeg. Here, you can find Albanian craft products such as embroidered items, carpeting, silver objects, copper, alabaster, filigree, traditional clothing, antiques at the traditional Old Baazar of Kruja . Itinerary: You will be collected from Durres in time to arrive at Skanderbeg Square Tirana by 2pm where the group will depart for Kruje. You will be transported in an air conditioned vehicle to the historical city where first, we spend time in the Bazaar with the opportunity to shop for local trinkets and witness traditional handmade crafts. Next, we visit with Skanderbeg Museum. This museum, inside the castle complex, opened in 1982 and its spacious seven-level interior displays replicas of armor and paintings depicting Skanderbeg's struggle against the Ottomans. The museum is something of a secular shrine, and takes itself very seriously indeed, with giant statues and dramatic battle murals. Entrance fees are included. Get your camera ready as we visit the tower a perfect opportunity to enjoy the view before we drive back to Tirana for your hotel drop off.
