Category: City Discovery Departs: Tirana Min: 2 People Itinerary: In 8:00 am you will be collected from your Hotel and taken to Venetian tower, Castle of Durres which is one of the most complete sets of walls from Late Antiquity in the Balkans, and one of the City’s most prominent Roman remains. This is now been converted to an upmarket bar and café where will enjoy a coffee and welcome chat before head of on our walk. Coffee is included. Our first stop is the Turkish Hammam & Turkish Baths dating back to the first century AD in Durres, after 25 years has been opened to visiting tourists and public in Albania. Then onto the Duress city hall. We will see the square and new Mosque Bysazantin Forman and Roman baths & Amphitheater of Durres. Entry is included into Aleksandër Moisiu’s House-Museum, a structure of beautiful architecture and ethnographic exhibits as well as childhood home of famed actor Aleksandër Moisiu. The house is two floors, stairs topped by gorgeous arches, a wide wooden passageway decorated with wooden workings which seem to pour over the columns, this museum is a joy to walk through! We finish with the Archeological Museum. This ultra-modern, well-lit and labelled museum just back from the seafront has a breathtaking collection of historical artefacts. Highlights include the fine-boned sculptures and statues, delicate gold jewelry, amphoras recovered from the seafloor and still covered in barnacles and beautiful painted vases and pots that are so perfectly preserved they look as if they were painted just yesterday. Entry is included.
